Overview

POSITION SUMMARY 

Instructor, Poms/Cheerleading, working as part of the YMCA Experience team, will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The individual will provide a high level of interaction with all participants in center programs and deliver a high level of quality within all programs administered. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  • Responsible for the implementation of activities for the children in the following areas: character development and values, special events, sports and games, choreography, and cheer routines.
  • Responsible at all times for the safety and well being of all participants enrolled in the program.
  • Must be a positive influence and role model.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for all children including accurate attendance and supervision of children at all times.
  • Responsible for assisting each child in reaching his/her full potential mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and intellectually.
  • Provide for effective and open communication with parents and children and staff.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate discipline for all children, and informing the Youth & Family Program Coordinator of any behavior problems.
  • Follow and enforce all YMCA procedures and policies, including: personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe YMCA. Take initiative to clean up/repair areas.
  • Be dressed in appropriate attire and wear nametag at all times.
  • Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and staff meetings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently required to sit, reach and must be able to move around the work environment   
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and focus   
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderateto loud 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Must hold current certification in CPR and First Aid.
  • Must have an interest in, respect for and ability to work with children.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of child development and program planning.
  • Must have skills in children’s games, sports, educational activities, team building, and moral building for the squad.
  • Must possess good human relation skills for working with children, parents, community members and other staff

Posted Salary Range

USD $18.29 - USD $20.00 /Hr.
