Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Unit Lead will plan, supervise, and implement the curriculum at a designated site for school age program and/or summer day camp.  Additionally, administer attendance, communicate with parents, supervise staff, help market the program, and responsibilities delegated by Site Supervisor. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, plan, and deliver daily activities, in-service days, in accordance with YMCA philosophy and state licensing requirements.
  • Assist with staff training both during in-service and ongoing  
  • Plan and deliver weekly activities, ensure variety in activities 
  • Develop and deliver timely highlight sheets with appropriate parent communication  
  • Maintain documentation for attendance, medicine, injuries, daily bus logs, logbooks etc.
  • Ensure supplies and equipment are well maintained 
  • Provide day to day supervision of the program and related staff 
  • Operate within approved program budget 
  • Ensure staff is prepared for emergency procedures; hold fire and tornado drills monthly 
  • Assist the Site Supervisor with providing effective communication to parents and developing a working relationship with parents 
  • Confirm field trips, payment method, and completing field trip sheets.
  • Assist Site Supervisor with staff scheduling; inform Supervisor on issues 
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans 

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle, feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear   
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities are required including accurate sight up close, distant, peripheral and focus 
  • Occasional exposure to wet conditions, and outdoor weather including UV sun rays  
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Qualified according to Colorado Department of Human Services 
  • 700- 2500 hours of qualified experience working with children that meet the guidelines.
  • Strong skills in human relations, curriculum development, staff supervision and mentoring 
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with diverse populations.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and technological (computer/ internet) skills.
  • Current CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certification

Posted Salary Range

USD $19.00 - USD $22.00 /Hr.
